Naming Contest: Baby N (sponsored by Roeckl)

Alright! Last years naming contest was such a success that my barn owner asked me to do it again this year. We actually have 2 foals on the ground this year but the filly has already been named!

Ava foaled out an even bigger foal than last year if you can believe that! This year we have another huge handsome bay colt with all the chrome by Emerald. For those of you that weren’t around last year Ava is by Balou Du Rouet and out of the full sister to Beezie Madden’s Judgement. She is a great mover and a super freak of a jumper.emerald-jump

The only “disappointing” thing about the new kid on the block is that he is a he and not a she. Maybe we should have had Amanda’s Michelle doing foal inspection though and then we could have a few days of enjoying a filly! I speak for my BO when I say we were hoping for a filly! But a healthy strong foal is perfect.Screen Shot 2018-05-15 at 7.43.58 PM

Now for the details… since we got so many great suggestions last year I thought that maybe some of you lovely people might have some good ideas this year too! As such I am holding a little contest to win… wait for it… Roeckl gloves!

When Roeckl mentioned interest in a collaboration I knew that all of you guys would be excited for an opportunity to win gloves.

I personally have been riding in Roeckls for years and they have never let me down. They have been all over the Midwest with me and even to the beach!

I recently got a new style from Roeckl and can’t wait to wear them when I am back in the saddle in a few weeks and share more about them with you.

Roeckl offers a variety of styles/ designs/ colors at a reasonable price given how durable they are. I have pairs that are 3-4 years strong and look like new after a quick run in the washer!

Back to the contest – See below for rules.

Because the foals will be registered KWPN the name needs to start with an N as this is the year of the N class. Otherwise the criteria aren’t too crazy… Minus the fact that we want it to be related to or somehow hint to the breeding. Please comment below on this post for a chance to win a voucher for a pair of Roeckl gloves.

We will pick 3 winners which will be determined a week from today – Tuesday, May 22nd

Rules:

  • Related to or associated with “Emerald”
  • Starts with N
  • Entries must be submitted via comment on this post by 11:59PM Sunday, May 20th.

Two random winners will also be selected to receive vouchers for Roeckl gloves – to enter the random drawing please follow the prompts below.

It’s pretty simple but basically you can be entered for the random drawing by following Roeckl on social media! Extra entries can be earned as well.

Thanks again to Roeckl for supporting the blogging community! I can’t wait to see what the winners end up thinking about the gloves!

I have some weird ones …
    Nathan
    Niadem
    Niridescent
    Nouveau Beryl
    Nocturne du Rouet
    Nemerald
    Negroni du Rouet
    Neliodor

  2. CruiseninStilettos says:

Newton/Neutrino (so he can defy gravity – also maybe the apple that fell on Newton’s head was emerald green 😉

Nimbus/Nimbostratus (so he can jump the clouds, emerald = ireland = clouds!)

  3. Meghan Anderson says:

    Nuit D’Émeraude
it’s French for emerald night. Maybe would be more fitting for a black baby, but it’s all I got lol

Oh Fun! Here are a few random ones from my brain. My favorite is any variation on Navette, as it ties into the theme but still sounds pretty.

Navette (a gemstone which is cut as a marquise)
Could be varied into Navette De Semilly or Navette Diamant

Nikita (means angel of precious stone in “native american”)
Nephrite (semi-precious stone, variety of jade)
Nadira (means precious in Arabic, kind of ties into “precious stones”)
Neala (means champion in irish gaelic)
Nyoko (means a gem or treasure in japanese)

  5. Amanda says:

Okay well that was really hard. My suggestions:

Nacre (the stuff that forms to make pearls)
Nashville (yeah I know it’s not emerald, but…)
    Nickel

  6. Kaity says:

Napier Green is a deeper shade of green also known as “British Racing Green” that originated in Ireland in 1903. So perhaps Napier, Napier Emerald, or something along those lines.
    Northern Emerald?
    Norbert?

  7. Bette says:

    Dang this is hard!
    Neo
    Neolithic (New Stone)
    Nouveau Chic
    Nouveau Riche

Tying it to emerald is the most difficult part! I think I’m out of ideas for now! Hope you find a name you guys like 🙂

  8. Kristen Brennan says:

North Shore (of Ireland…the Emerald Isle)
Nightjar (rare bird in South Ire)

That’s all I’ve got. My lack of creativity for names (hence why all of my pets/horses have people names) does not bode well for getting new gloves lol!

  9. Alanna says:

I’ve seen Nemerald a couple of times. Kind of makes me think of Nimrod. Haha.

    Suggestions:

    Next Gem

Or somehow incorporating Nimble (I see someone had Nimble Emerald) or Natty (smart/fashionable) something.

    Natty Emerald?
