Merry Christmas to me! On Sunday I finally got to meet Whiskey Wu. From start to finish the process of getting my grabby hands on him was exactly 2 weeks. He did not disappoint!
I think my friends and family can attest to just how annoying I have been. The combination of grief and then anxiety has made me a real treat this month. Once I found him it was a whole bunch of hurry up and wait.
First I messaged his trainer (who is the real OG) and had to hold my breath while waiting to see if his owners would agree to sell him. Once I had the clear to move forward I had to wait for his PPE. That 3 day wait left me with plenty of time to plan our entire future together… Ensuring that I would be crushed if some career limiting detail was found during his exam. After he “passed” the PPE I had to find shipping. Let me just tell you – there isn’t exactly a huge demand for haulers coming from VA to TX the week before Christmas. I was able to find transport leaving this past Friday and arriving in TX Sunday afternoon.
During this wait I tormented everyone around me trying to figure out what to call him. You see his barn name was Charlie. Which I do love. Only problem is that that is my nephews name. Thus #notcharliemaybeotis was born. I still wasn’t sold on the name Otis though and wanted to wait until I met him. On Friday the gif name game was born.

The gif game was incredibly entertaining but ultimately couldn’t help me seal the deal. Having now met the baby dreamboat I knew Otis wasn’t a good fit either. I got to hang out with him a little bit more yesterday and shortly after leaving the barn thought of Dobby from Harry Potter. He seems very sweet, has a kind of lumpy head, and even just one sock. It just seemed right so that’s his name.
Amanda informed me that when he’s being dumb she can yell “Dobby is a free elf!”. HA.
The ones for Amanda’s guys were spot on too! And Luna’s… well 😂 Her options were a collection of anime and this gem. Which is somehow kind of fitting!

Thank you! That’s the plan. I need to get my entry ready. 🙂 it’s a haul from TX so I am probably going to have to make it a long trip to justify all that driving.
if you go to RRP I will come cheer you on too!! And you could totally overnight here for a night if you want to break it up. We are about 6-7 hours to Lexington from here!!
