January 2022

Alright, props to you if you read my last post or watched any of the videos. Apparently January is the month of the year that I let my crazy a$$ buy new horses…

1 year ago meeting little Lexifer for the first time

One year ago on Sunday I was driving to Atlanta with a friend to go pick up Lex! Well, a couple of weeks ago Amanda and I made a spur of the moment decision to drive to NOLA and get a new horse…

Amanda and I pretty much always send each other OTTBs back and forth. Usually fairly innocently enough. Well, this time we both fell in love with the same chestnut mare. So when she said “did you see the mare Jade posted yesterday” and I simultaneously was like “I almost messaged about that chestnut mare she posted” we both started scheming. Here are some posts that Amanda has made about her because I am frankly too lazy/tired/unfocused to type it all out again.

$900 FB Pony Sequel | Whirlwind Acquisition | Gemma’s Family Tree

Bea has decided that Gemma is her horse. It is freaking adorable and while it will probably be like 5-10 years before Gemma would be suitable for a kid I am not discouraging her. She asks every day if she can go see her “good girl”, has made all sorts of plans for when she gets to ride, and insists on smothering her with cookies. Henry has taught her well.
When I took her out to the farm with me last week she mooned over the mare like she was her entire universe. Henry is quite offended by all of this even if he does think that Bea is a floppy little troll.

If you have been reading the blog for any amount of time you can probably guess that I have a big soft spot for a pretty chestnut mare and I would be lying if I said our sweet girl didn’t really remind me of Annie. I am kind of the semi-silent partner with this one but I am really excited to see her develop!

Thanks for following along even if I am the most boring and irregular posting blogger alive. With any luck I will get to make my training level debut with Henry early next month and I CANNOT WAIT. Seriously guys. This has been almost a decade in the works and I am feeling #blessedAF that I have a horse that knows a hell of a lot more than I do for my first attempt!

I can completely commiserate as a fellow slacker blogger! LOL! Glad to see you are all having such fun! I hope you do a Lex update before you disappear again, though. 😉
