Another Catch Up Post: 2021

I am not even going to bother with the “I am back” promises. Blogging has honestly not been a priority for me since getting pregnant/having my daughter and I have no clue if it ever will be. By the time I get to the end of the day 95% of the time I just want to crawl into bed with my kindle. We’ll see though! I am drafting a few posts. First up is a catch up – see below for my word vomit. Then I was thinking about sharing about my weight loss over the past year as I get a lot of comments and questions about that. I will also probably share about my BEMER set because besides Lex that is definitely one of my favorite purchases of 2021! If anyone has particular things they want to hear about let me know!

June 2021

This month was pretty fun. Hot but we went to a schooling horse trial, schooling jumper rounds, and I decided to spur of the moment enter both weeks of the Chatt Hills summer horse trials. Overall I had a blast and a half and got to spend lots of QT with horse friends! Then I spent a week at a work conference.

July 2021

This month was probably the highlight of my year with Lex. We spent almost 2 weeks in Georgia and while we didn’t kick butt on the scoreboard I had some of the best rides of my life. Lex and I really hit our stride together and learned so much about each other. I had my first clear SJ rounds with him and was loving life. We decided that it was time to move up and I was feeling on top of the world! Huge shout out to Julie and Amanda for all of their support that trip! I couldn’t have done it without you guys! Also big thanks to my in-laws for being the real OG’s and staying in TX to watch Bea for me.

Week 1
Week 2

August 2021

I don’t really remember much about what Lex and I did this month. It was probably too hot for me to enjoy life so we may as well pretend like it didn’t happen.

September 2021

September was a decent month. It was pretty hot and I was trying my damndest to ride early when possible. We finished the month on a high note as I rode in a clinic with MS who helped us in July @ Chatt Hills. She was super complimentary of the progress we had made in the 2.5 months since she had last seen us and I really got motivated again to stay on top of my homework.

October & November 2021

October started off with a high coming off our MS clinic and I was excited to keep the ball rolling at home. Unfortunately towards the end of the month my sweet hony decided to play with a rattlesnake and spent a week in the ICU at Texas A&M. I am so thankful for the fast action of my BO, vet, and the great work of the staff at A&M. Lex made a full recovery with no side effects. Also, thanks again to all of my wonderful friends that talked me off the ledge when I was freaking TAF out and convincing myself Lex was going to die.

By the time Lex was on the mend I had somehow hurt my shoulder and ended up deciding to send him MS for boot camp a bit earlier than I expected. Amanda and I made the trek up to the DFW area on Black Friday and Mr. Lexy has been up there since!

December 2021

Because the theme of this post is “Hillary has awesome friends” lets talk about how freaking cool it is that I started to unofficially lease Amanda’s Henry! I was having mega sads about potentially being out of the saddle while Lex was off for training until she offered for me to get some mileage on one of my favorite bay boys. It took a few rides but in no time I started to get my sea legs and confidence with Henry. Amanda and I started hatching plans for my move up and it’s been game on since then!

I also got to spend 10 days with my family in Mexico for Xmas and it was an incredible trip! After the roller coaster that was the end of 2021 I was grateful to escape reality for a bit and soak up some sun and family time.
If you read all of that you deserve an award!

Not surprised blogging has not been a priority, but am glad to see you back. Lex is such a cutie and it’s great to see you on Henry.
I am curious as to what happened with Dobie though.
