If you don’t like kids… Or super cute horse themed bedrooms this is not the post for you. I started writing this probably 2 weeks before Beatrix made her grand entrance. Then life got away with us and here we are 5 months later.
Bea is going to be subject to horses. Seeing as how I am still as horse obsessed as I was when I started riding 20 years ago this shouldn’t be a surprise. When it came time to decorate her nursery I had a few different ideas. Apparently people frown upon black, grey, and white nurseries so I went with navy, grey, and lavender. For me a horsey influence was not negotiable. It’s probably hard to believe but I didn’t go into decorating planning for every wall to be plastered with horses.
Initially I talked about printing/framing pages from my favorite Shel Silverstein books. I was having a hard time finding enough with images that I liked though. Lucky for me Amanda (not $900 FB Pony – my friend in TN) remembered me mentioning that I wanted to do that and had the most perfect print framed for me (above)! One idea that did stick for me regardless of color palette was to have Emilie from Because Pony do busts of each of the horses. I didn’t give her too much info but she captured each horse’s personality perfectly. I love what she came up with and even used a gift card that may or may not have been intended for wedding pictures to have them framed with FrameBridge.
For above the crib I really wanted to do raised flowers and her name. My friend Katherine surprised me and got us both as a gift! One of the things my parents gave us was bedding – my mom even crocheted Bea a blanket! My in-laws helped put together all of the furniture (shout out to my FIL!). They also got us the super cute lamp and a blanket ladder to display my insane stash of blankets. These things aren’t horse related but are cute nonetheless.
Personally I love to get babies stuffed animals. I think most people feel the same way so Bea has a ton of cute stuffed animals. No equestrian’s nursery is complete without at least one horse toy right??? Two of my favorites are a cool sock monkey pony from Amanda (TN) and the super cute @ponyforapony that Amanda got me.
Now that we have moved I need to set up the nursery again. I love that all of the decor makes me think of our friends and family. I hope that every one that showered us with gifts in preparation of the little one knows how appreciated they are!
If any of you guys have kids – do they have horse themed rooms? Am I the only crazy one forcing that 😛
OH gosh girl. You are giving me baby fever with this one. If I decorate a nursery in yellow and white to match my horse, does that mean I have a problem?
How freaking cute! I love how it all comes together.
Her nursery turned out so pretty!
I need to message you on FB. Life is such a drain lately that I’m struggling to make it through the work day, let alone do anything else. But I will soon. I have lots of things to update you on and enough questions to probably drive you crazy. Now you’re excited, right? 😉
Adorable. That’s a fun, unique and calming space. I totally love that the gifts give you the warm fuzzies every time you walk in. She’s a lucky little lady!
Super cute!!! Love it!
SO SO CUTE! Love how it came out. Cam’s room is totally covered in horse stuff…and pink…both her choices (with some guidance from me). No regrets 🙂
Just catching up with your blog, wow so much has happened lately! I hope you are continuing to adjust to the move, and I love that nursery, it’s so adorable!
So CUTE!
I love Shel Silverstein too.
