WEG Tryon 2018

Before I even got pregnant I began planning a trip to go to WEG with friends. I went when it was in Kentucky and had a blast. It seemed like common sense to go again this time.

When I found out I was pregnant and would have an infant when WEG finally rolled around it was a speed bump but not a road block. Admittedly I did think that I would be going without her… HA. Those of you that have kids will understand that struggle. Thankfully I have one of the best babies ever and she was a superstar traveler. On top of that I have great friends that made the whole trip easy as possible. This was appreciated as the venue wasn’t as stroller friendly as I anticipated.

Moving to Austin kind of complicated the trip. First we flew to Nashville so that I could check on our house and see some friends. I was also able to stuff some treats in Luna. Now that I have a permanent plus one we had too many people for one car so we caravanned down to Tryon.

Technically the cabin we rented was in Hendersonville. It was cheap but I guess you get what you pay for (it didn’t exactly live up to the pictures). img_7448.jpg

Originally we were just going to WEG for finals day on Sunday and to Biltmore on Saturday. All of the horrible weather that hit the east coast had people selling tickets left and right and we were able to get passes for Friday too. I honestly had more fun watching the individual finals on Friday than I did watching team finals so I am really glad we got extra tickets.

I also appreciated the break from TIEC on Saturday. It was pretty toasty and after baking all day Friday touring the historic grounds was refreshing.

All in all it was a fun trip with great friends. I think next time I’ll probably take a pass though. Maybe if WEG went back to Kentucky but I’m not chomping at the bit to go back to Tryon as a spectator anytime soon. I guess it’ll probably be another decade before it’s in NA again anyways. I think with a little more time TIEC will be an amazing venue though and wouldn’t hesitate to go play in jumper land there again.
